The makers. The Perth Mint is the official mint of Australia and is wholly owned by the Government of Western Australia. The mint manufactures and distributes platinum, silver and gold coins for collectors and customers worldwide.

Please note: The coins should not be touched at all.  Once a coin is minted the coins surfaces and finishes are very delicate and coins should not be taken out of the capsule or handled without cotton or latex gloves, and even then it should only be handled by its edges.  This is because the precious metal surfaces will react to the skin’s corrosive oils and acids as well as other environmental contaminants such as dust and moisture, which result in disfiguring marks that cannot be removed. These coins should not be soaked and cannot be cleaned.

Please note: We recommend keeping your coin within its protective display housing at all times. If touched or left exposed to the air, the freshly minted precious metal will react to atmospheric dust and moisture, as well as oils and acids in the skin, leaving marks that cannot be removed. We cannot be held responsible if this happens. If you do choose to handle your coin, always wear gloves and hold it by its edges.
