Discover the James Bond Grasmere Double Old Fashioned Tumbler - Casino Royale Edition by Cumbria Crystal. Handmade in England from 24% lead crystal, this Cumbria Crystal glass appears in Casino Royale.
Backstory. After a fight with Ugandan rebel leader Obanno in the stairwell of the Hotel Splendide, Bond goes to his bathroom to clean up. He pours a large shot of whisky into a Grasmere Double Old Fashioned Tumbler, drinks it, puts on a fresh shirt and heads back to face Le Chiffre at the casino table.
Details. Designed by Lady Grania Cavendish, one of the original founders of Cumbria Crystal in 1976, the Grasmere Collection shares its name with the village and lake in the English Lake District. The classic style is achieved by using flute, mitre, diamond and thumbprint cuts and requires a whole team of cutters to produce it. With a refined, complex design, it exudes character and uniqueness, epitomising the best of British glass blowing and cutting craftsmanship. The increased refractive index of full-lead crystal gives brilliant sparkle in the cut and a reassuring weight in the hand.
The Double Old Fashioned is the perfect larger size whisky tumbler for lovers of generous spirits with, or without, mixers and soft drinks. The glass is packaged in a Cumbria Crystal presentation box with a special James Bond Casino Royale keepsake card.
Dimensions. H9.7cm; Ø8.7cm; 350ml/12oz
The makers. Cumbria Crystal was founded in 1976 by Lord and Lady Cavendish and a small group of local business people to produce exceptional, handmade full lead crystal tableware in the North of England. The company has remained small and true to its artisan roots and today produces crystal for the British Embassies and Residencies across the world. Cumbria Crystal specialises in the use of traditional methods, shunning automated blowing and cutting, focusing only on what can be made exclusively by hand. This inevitably leads to a significantly smaller output and a higher price due to its smaller output compared to other glass factories, but represents the very pinnacle of artisan craftsmanship.
