Introducing the James Bond Fort Knox Gold Bullion Bar Prop Replica - Goldfinger Edition, a 1:1scale model of the prop bars inGoldfinger(1964).
Backstory. For the climatic Fort Knox scenes a very limited number of individual hero prop bars were made. These hero props were cast in an epoxy material and painted to look like gold. One of them was used by Bond as a makeshift hammer to break open the nuclear device case. The many ‘stacks’ of bullion seen throughout the iconic set were a piece of very convincing cinematic magic. Although they look like stacks of individual bullion bars, they were, in fact, just molded fascia panel sheets affixed to internal frames. The bars in these panels featured engraved serial numbers, the hero props did not. After filming, all the molded panels were destroyed; only a couple of hero props were retained, including one that was autographed by Sean Connery and gifted to a crew member.
Details. This replica has been copied from the original hero prop in the EON Productions archive, it includes the engraved serial numbers seen on the stack bars. Each replica is cast in a heavyweight epoxy with a metal core and has a foundry-cast texture and a gold finish, intended to represent an amalgam of the appearance of the different prop bars as they appear on-screen. Presented in a gift box with a magnetic closure, each replica includes an individually numbered certificate of authenticity booklet.
Bar dimensions. Bar only 7x4x2” (177x101x50mm) - 2lbs (9kgs)
