Created to mark 20 years of Casino Royale, the black & ivory James Bond Carry-On Trolley Case 20" brings the film’s playing-card language into sharp focus through contrasting colour and considered detailing. This case is Globe-Trotter's most popular size, making it perfectly suited to weekend journeys and overnight stays.
Backstory. Designed by Danny Kleinman, the title sequence set the tone for a new era of 007. "One starting point was Ian Fleming's own design for the first edition of Casino Royale, which used the hearts from a playing card. I also remember that a puff of gun smoke stylised into the form of a club symbol came to me early, and I sketched that."
Details. Handcrafted in England from black vulcanised fibreboard, the case is finished with ivory leather straps. Bond’s winning 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 hand is embossed directly into the ivory leather, turning a defining moment from the film into a detail within the construction of the case itself.Inside, the colourful fabric lining references the film's title sequence, creating a richer contrast with the understated exterior. It comes complete with two internal webbing straps on the lid and base and is fully lined. An exterior centre clip gives additional security along with two TSA approved locks with keys. Designed with four wheels, leather side handle and top telescopic wooden handle, the case brings together Globe-Trotter’s craftsmanship with one of the film’s most recognisable details. This carry-on suitcase is the ideal companion for one, two, three nights away. And being accepted by most airlines in the cabin, it’ll never need to leave your side.
Dimensions. H55cm, W40cm, D21cm, capacity 34l, weight 4.2kg
The makers. Established in 1897, Globe-Trotter suitcases and travel accessories are handcrafted in Hertfordshire, England by highly skilled artisans using original manufacturing methods and machinery that date back to the Victorian era. The 007 cases are made to order from panels of vulcanised fibreboard: a unique material invented in Britain during the 1850s that is as strong as leather and as light as aluminium. Each sheet is moulded into shape using a method patented by the company in 1901, while the case’s black leather corners are moulded on Victorian press machines over a period of five days to ensure optimum strength and form.
