The James Bond Aston Martin V8 Slot Car is based on the gadget-laden model driven in the fifteenth Bond film The Living Daylights (1987). In the movie the car featured a host of weapons and this Scalextric slot car includes the Q-Branch designed ‘outrigger’ which are skis to enable Bond to getaway in the wintery conditions making it an impressive model for any Bond fan or collector.
Backstory. The classic, muscular Aston Martin V8 proves its worth in the film when it deploys a pair of outrigger skis on a frozen lake chase. When launched the Aston Martin V8 was hailed as Britain’s first supercar achieving 0-60mph in 5.3 seconds, quicker than the Ferrari Daytona. The V8 was a mainstay of the Aston Martin range throughout the late 1970s and 1980s as well as being 007's car of choice. Like all good Bond cars Q-Branch added a series of extra’s including missiles, heads-up display, lasers, tire spikes, a rocket motor and self destruct to stop it getting into the wrong hands. The speed and beauty of the V8 are enough to make it an essential Bond car.
