James Bond 5oz Silver Proof Coin - 1990s Numbered Edition - By The Royal Mint

007 returns to The Royal Mint with a seven-coin journey through the decades celebrating the legacy of James Bond.

The James Bond 5oz Silver Proof Coin - 1990s Numbered Edition by The Royal Mint is a celebration of the Bond films of the 1990s with a coin designed by award-winning design agency Bison Bison. The coin features 007 in the Q Boatfrom the opening sequence of The World Is Not Enough, and is released in an edition of 350.

Backstory. By the 1990s, four men had appeared as 007 and it was the turn of Pierce Brosnan to become James Bond. The Q Boat is from the River Thames scene in The World Is Not Enough. For the film’s pre-title high-speed river chase, the team required a boat that was highly manoeuvrable, and which could stay airborne for almost 90ft after hitting speeds up to 80mph. Engineer and boat builder Doug Riddle designed a custom racing machine with a V8 engine offering up 300bhp. On full plane, the boat can operate in just four inches of water.

Details. This is a coin made from 5oz silver, featuring the boat in relief against inscriptions of all the 1990s film titles, with the '90s 007 logo within a gun barrel frame. On the obverse is a portrait of King Charles, dated 2024. Each coin comes with commemorative packaging detailing James Bond’s 1990s history and a numbered certificate of authenticity.

Dimensions. D65mm, weight 156.29g
